DIY Bow gift box

Do you ever go to a store and see something you'd like and think to yourself "mmm... I think I could make that myself"? Well, you're welcome! Because this is one of those things I'm saving you from spending your money on a store, because, guess what? Yeah! You can actually do it yourself! (And I'm sorry for the store that gave me the idea, because I actually like it quite a lot)

I would actually love to receive a present in one of these boxes. They're not too big, but they're the right size for small gifts like jewelry, nail polish, or even money or candy!

To make one of these, you will need:

  • A toilet paper roll
  • Colored paper
  • Patterned paper (I printed mine at home)
  • Cardstock paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A pencil

I started off by cutting the colored paper. To do this, I placed the toilet paper roll on top of it and with a pencil, I marked the length of the roll.

This helped me cut a piece of paper with the same length, that I glued to the toilet paper roll to cover it.

If it's slightly longer, like mine, it will actually look better.

You can then simply fold the ends in to "close the box".

We will now cut a piece of the patterned paper.

But now, glue only the ends to form a tube that you can slide in and out. And instead of folding the ends in, use a pencil to trace the parts that we won't be needing.

Now bring the tube out, and cut those out!

Now cut the tube in two, but make one half bigger than the other.

Now place the two of them together and cut the excess part of the longer part, so that they're both the same size. Now, when you place them back in, you will have some space between the two parts.

I drew the "falling parts" of the ribbon into the cardstock paper. I actually drew just one and used it as a stencil for the other one so that they would look the same.

Then glue some patterned paper on top to cover them.

And draw them to the back of the box. And voilà!

I think it looks really cute! And the best thing is I saved some money... that I spent the following day on makeup, but that's a whole other story!

I hope you'll like it!
