I know a lot of people like mug cakes, and I really wanted to be one of those people, but I always felt they didn't taste half as good as baked cakes. But I was really craving chocolate the other day and we didn't have any at home so a mug cake was the most similar thing I could have.
Thank goodness I came across this recipe (thank you, God of Pinterest!) because it clearly made me change my mind!
To make this cake, you will only need:
- 1/4 cup Nutella
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tablespoon pure cocoa powder
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla-flavored sugar
The original recipe (which is from Kirbie Cravings) didn't include the vanilla sugar. However, it said this wasn't very sweet, so I decided to add this to add a little extra sweetness. The result was beyond perfection, so I never tried to make it in a different way.
If you have any chocolate chips, I think those would be perfect for this recipe! Or if you're not allergic to nuts (I am) you could also add walnuts or macadamia nuts.
(Am I saying perfect too much?)
When I made this, however, I only added the ingredients mentioned in the bullet points.
All you have to do is simply add all the ingredients in a mug.
And now blend it it very well.
All that's left to do is microwave it for 1 minute and 20 seconds.
Mine came up a lot. It even looked as if it was going to come out of the mug. But it then went back in (which is why the mug looks short of dirty in the photos)
Question of the Day

Well I think this is one is the right one to start with! But I know what you mean. I'm not proud to admit I've been making more of these that I should have.
DeleteMug cakes are so good! I did have a phase when I had one per day (which I'm not proud of) when I used to share a house at Uni. Its really satisfying when you get the perfect rise yet its still goey and soft in the middle!
ReplyDeleteLooks so YUMMY :)
