Diy donut/sock bun

I've been a fan of top knots this year (like the one in Eleanor's blog) but this donut bun stays longer so, I switched to donut buns instead.

I always thought this was a very popular DIY, but I keep seeing those donuts to make hair-buns in stores which made me think that maybe not everyone knows you can actually make it yourself. And all you need is two socks!

Start off by cutting the end where the toes go.

Insert one sock inside of the other one and start rolling both socks at a time creating your donut.

For this hairstyle you will need:
Para el peinado necesitas:
  • Your donut (obviously)
    Tu donut (obvio)
  • Two hair elastics
    Dos coleteros
  • Some bobby pins (I usually use one. But the more, the merrier)
Put your hair in a high ponytail.
Pass your hair through the donut hole.
Cover the donut with your hair.
Place the other hair elastic underneath the donut, making the hair stay covering it.
Wrap your remaining hair around the bun and secure with bobby pins. You can also braid it before. I added a little bun wrap to make it cuter.

I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know in the comments if you did and thanks for reading!

  2. So pretty! I think socks work so much better than the premade donut buns, they are softer so make such a nice shape. Great post! :)
